    Attorney for former Conn clients explains impact of new hearings

    LEXINGTON, Ky. (WYMT) - Congressman Hal Rogers' office confirmed Friday the Social Security Administration (SSA) will have 2,000 additional former Conn clients attend redetermination hearings. Ned Pillersdorf, who represents Conn’s former clients, said these redetermination hearings will be devastating to people impacted.

    “Most of the people who are going to be affected... If they lose their benefits it will have a profound impact on them,” said Ned Pillersdorf, an attorney for Conn’s former clients. “And what's been lost in all of this aside from Conn's outrageous conduct is that there's zero evidence that any of Conn's clients ever had any idea that anything unusual was going on.”

    Notices will be sent out soon, but not all at once. Benefits will not be suspended until the hearings, which are intended to begin in May. Pillersdorf said the timing of the redetermination hearings is unusual.

    “I noticed in Congressman Roger's statement yesterday that he correctly pointed out the absurd timing,” said Pillersdorf. "A federal judge has already ruled the hearing are unconstitutional and that the Social Security Administration has appealed that ruling.”  Read More
